Chelsea beat Arsenal 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, ending the Gunners’ unbeaten run in the Women’s Super League. Alyssa Thompson scored the only goal.

Arsenal had struck the woodwork twice through Kim Little and Mariona Caldentey before Thompson broke the deadlock just before half-time. Keira Walsh’s long-range shot was saved by Anneke Borbe, and Thompson fired home the rebound.

Arsenal improved after the break but could not find a way through. Chloe Kelly’s angled drive was blocked and Alessia Russo’s shot was charged down as Chelsea closed out a third league win of the season.

Arsenal’s defeat was their first in the WSL since October 2025, a streak spanning 20 games. The result leaves Chelsea within two points of leaders Manchester City, while Arsenal sit seven points adrift ahead of facing City on October 4.

Katie McCabe faced her former club for the first time since joining Chelsea in the summer. Lauren James played 67 minutes before being replaced by Sjoeke Nusken.
