Nissan to launch Rogue e-Power hybrid in US in November

Nissan will launch the Rogue e-Power hybrid in the United States in November, Nissan Americas Chairman Christian Meunier said Monday in Yokohama, according to Reuters. The technology has never before been sold in the US, though Nissan has sold more than 2 million e-Power vehicles globally.
Meunier said hybrids should “very quickly” account for 30 to 40 percent of total C-segment mid-sized car sales in the US market. Nissan also plans to bring the more compact Kicks e-Power to the US and Canada “as soon as possible,” and to add hybrid powertrains to larger SUVs and pickups.
Nissan is targeting 80 percent localisation of its US manufacturing by the end of 2030, up from about 65 percent now and 40 percent before US tariffs were imposed in early 2025, Meunier said. US production of the Rogue e-Power could begin as early as 2028.
Meunier said he does not expect the US market to open to Chinese automakers over the next five years, citing strong industry opposition over low-priced Chinese competition.
Why it matters: Nissan’s first US hybrid arrives as the automaker pushes to cut tariff exposure through local manufacturing.
