The White House barred CNN from the television pool aboard Air Force One for President Donald Trump's trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, on Saturday, CNN reported. The conservative outlet Real America's Voice News was given the travel slot instead.

Trump attended a college football game between the University of Tennessee and the University of Texas. The move came two days after Judge Timothy Kelly issued a 14-day temporary restraining order directing the White House to restore hard-pass credentials for journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico.

Kelly found the outlets were likely to succeed on their due-process claim, since the passes were revoked without notice or a chance to respond. But his order addressed access to White House grounds and did not specifically mention press pool assignments or Air Force One.

The White House has argued the order covers only grounds access, not presidential travel. Lawyers for the outlets say they believe it covers pool operations too, and plan to raise the Air Force One exclusion in court. The outlets face a September 28 deadline to seek a preliminary injunction.

The dispute follows Trump's September 18 announcement barring the three outlets, accusing them of publishing dishonest coverage.
