Canpotex Invests $500M in Vancouver Potash Terminal

Canpotex has announced a CA$500 million investment in Neptune Bulk Terminals at the Port of Vancouver, the largest supply-chain investment in the company’s history.
The project, announced at a groundbreaking ceremony on September 25, will replace and modernize marine and terminal infrastructure. Work includes new shiploaders, conveyors and the dumper pit used to unload railcars and load vessels.
Neptune is the world’s largest potash export terminal. The Port of Vancouver is the most critical export gateway for Saskatchewan potash. Canpotex moves more than 15 million tonnes of Canadian potash through its supply chain each year to customers in more than 40 countries.
“The world will need more potash, and Canada should be the country that supplies it,” said Canpotex president and CEO Gordon McKenzie. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe attended the ceremony and said the investment would support jobs and economic growth across Canada.
In 2025, the value of potash exports reached $9 billion, up 13.5 percent from 2024. Canada holds the world’s largest potash reserves.
