IMD predicts heavy rain in Kerala, TN, Bengal and Sikkim

The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in several states on October 9. Isolated places in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to get heavy showers.
Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Sikkim are also on the heavy-rain list. The IMD advised residents in these areas to stay alert. Local officials have been asked to keep disaster response teams ready.
Delhi, meanwhile, will stay warm and dry with no rain expected. The capital has been seeing above-normal temperatures this week. Morning haze is likely in parts of the city.
The IMD said the northeast monsoon is active over the southern peninsula. Fishermen have been warned against venturing into rough seas. More updates will follow in the evening bulletin.
The IMD uses colour-coded alerts to warn of severe weather. An orange alert means residents should be prepared for disruption. The next bulletin will update the forecast for the weekend. Commuters in the affected states should plan for slower traffic during peak rain hours.
