Trump rules out Iran attack before US midterms

US President Donald Trump has ruled out any attack on Iran before the November 3 midterm elections. He made the statement in a post on Truth Social on October 8.
Trump said “productive discussions” are underway with Tehran. He did not give details of the talks. The US naval blockade of Iran will stay in place, he added.
The statement eases fears of an imminent strike. Tensions between the two countries have been high for months. Oil markets, which spiked on war fears, steadied after the post.
Analysts said the remarks are aimed at voters worried about a new conflict. They added that the blockade keeps pressure on Iran while talks continue. The White House has not set a date for any meeting.
The midterms will decide control of the US Congress. Foreign policy rarely tops voter concerns, but a new war could change that. Tehran has not officially responded to Trump’s post.
