Delhi EC announces special camps to enrol voters

The Delhi Election Commission has announced special camps to enrol eligible voters, officials said on October 9. The camps aim to help unregistered citizens get on the electoral rolls.
The move comes amid a political row over the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. Opposition parties have questioned the process and demanded the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation.
Enrolment drives are a routine part of election preparation, but this one lands in a charged atmosphere. Young voters turning 18 and residents who recently moved are among those the camps target.
The poll panel has urged eligible citizens to check their names and register. Details of camp locations and dates are expected from the commission.
Voter-list accuracy has become a flashpoint in Delhi politics this week. The camps give citizens a direct way to make sure their vote counts.
The commission said the camps will help first-time voters and those who have shifted homes. Voters are usually asked to carry address and age proof. The poll panel has also asked citizens to verify their names on the rolls. With the SIR debate continuing, the camps offer a practical step for voters.
