Delhi Police propose curbs at 57 Metro stations from Friday night

Delhi Police have proposed entry and exit restrictions at 57 Metro stations from Friday night, October 9, ahead of a planned protest in the capital. Passengers should confirm station access and operational arrangements before travelling, officials said.
The move comes as security is tightened across Central Delhi ahead of a demonstration planned for Saturday, October 10, at Jantar Mantar. Police have denied permission for the gathering.
Authorities are preparing for possible crowds and want to maintain public order in key parts of the national capital. The restrictions could affect Metro passengers, railway travellers and motorists moving through Central Delhi.
Police cited the need for crowd management and public safety. Commuters heading to central areas on Friday night and Saturday are advised to check updates before leaving home.
The capital often sees pre-emptive transport curbs around large planned demonstrations. Officials will review the restrictions based on the ground situation.
The curbs come as police denied permission for Saturday’s planned Jantar Mantar demonstration. Officials said the restrictions are temporary and will be reviewed based on the ground situation. Commuters should plan extra travel time.
