Apple Signs Hiring Deal With AI Podcast Startup Huxe

Apple has signed a hiring and licensing deal with AI podcast startup Huxe. This is revealed in a European Commission filing reported on Friday.
Under the deal, Apple can offer jobs to some Huxe employees. It will also get a non-exclusive license to the company’s technology. This is not a full acquisition.
Huxe was founded by former Google NotebookLM team members Raiza Martin, Jason Spielman and Stephen Hughes. The startup made an app that turned prompts into AI-generated podcasts. Listeners could interrupt the AI hosts to ask questions.
Huxe shut down in May 2026. Its audio service ended on May 28. The startup had raised $4.6 million in funding.
Apple notified the Commission about the deal in June. The filing does not say which employees Apple may hire. The move fits Apple’s push to strengthen its AI and audio productsApple has not said how it will use the technology. Industry watchers expect it in future podcast or AI audio features.
