Delhi HC Issues Summons On Kangana Ranaut’s Personality Rights Plea

The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued summons in a suit filed by actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, seeking protection of her personality and publicity rights. Justice Vikas Mahajan also issued notice on her application for interim relief.
Ranaut’s counsel told the court she was aggrieved by pornographic and obscene content posted against her on social media, along with AI-generated material and fake news falsely attributing statements to her. The counsel clarified she was not seeking removal of satirical content at this stage.
The court asked her counsel to name the defendants against whom a takedown order is sought, indicating an interim order may follow. The matter is now listed for further hearing on February 3, 2027.
The case adds to a growing wave of personality-rights suits before the Delhi High Court, which has recently protected actors including Tabu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Allu Arjun. Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda’s similar plea was heard the same day.
