Bokshi Release Pushed to December 4 After CBFC Review

The release of Prasanna Bisht-starrer Bokshi has been postponed from October 9 to December 4, 2026, following its certification process with the Central Board of Film Certification.
The CBFC’s Examining Committee referred the film to the Revising Committee over its supernatural themes, depiction of witchcraft, gruesome violence and bloodshed. It has now been cleared with an ‘A’ certificate and minimal modifications.
Producer Lorien Motion Pictures announced the new date on October 8. The makers said the delay will allow a full-scale theatrical campaign.
The folk-horror film marks the feature directorial debut of Bhargav Saikia. It follows Anahita, a teenager whose school trek to a remote prehistoric site leads her toward an ancient legend.
The multilingual film features Hindi, English and Nepali, along with Boksirit, a fictional language created for the film. It premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2025.
The film’s trailer, released a few weeks ago, reportedly drew an encouraging response among younger audiences and horror fans. The makers are counting on a wider campaign now.
Bokshi blends folk-horror, coming-of-age elements and mystery. It will arrive in select cinemas across India on December 4.
