Bokshi release pushed to December after CBFC review: explained

The release of folk horror film Bokshi has been postponed to December 4. It was earlier set to release in theatres on October 9.
The delay came after a longer certification process. The makers reportedly waited longer because of the film’s supernatural themes, depiction of witchcraft and graphic violence.
Bokshi has now received an A certificate from the censor board. Producer Lorien Motion Pictures said the shift will allow a smoother promotional campaign and wider rollout.
The film stars Prasanna Bisht as Anahita, a teenager on a school trip to a secluded prehistoric location. Mansi Multani and Siddharth Shaw play key roles.
Directed by Bhargav Saikia, the film blends folk horror with mystery. It uses Hindi, Nepali and English, plus a fictional language called Boksirit created for the film. The film premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. It had locked an October 9 India release earlier this year. The producers thanked partners and audiences for their patience.
