AIFF elections on December 20, Rajeev Sharma named officer

The All India Football Federation will conduct its general elections on December 20, with former Haryana State Election Commissioner Rajeev Sharma appointed as electoral officer.
The decision was taken at the federation’s Special General Body Meeting in Kolkata on October 4. Members of the AIFF Executive Committee, representatives of member associations and officials from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation attended.
The General Body also extended the tenure of the current Executive Committee until December 30, or until the newly elected committee takes charge, whichever is earlier.
The polls will be the first AIFF elections since September 2022, when Kalyan Chaubey was elected president for a four-year term. The federation said Sharma will oversee the conduct of the elections.
The schedule comes at a significant period for Indian football, with the national team gaining exposure against leading football nations. Member associations are expected to file nominations over the coming weeks, and the final electoral roll of voters will be published before the voting date.
