Atlassian and OpenAI deepen AI partnership

Atlassian and OpenAI have expanded their partnership to bring advanced AI tools to workplace teams. The deal was announced on October 6.
OpenAI’s GPT-6 family of models, including GPT-6 Astra and the GPT-5.6 series, will now power AI agents across the Atlassian platform. These agents will work inside Rovo, Jira, and Confluence.
The AI tools will use Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph. This system connects data across apps, so agents can understand work in context. They will help teams write, plan, and fix problems.
More than 3,000 Atlassian developers already use OpenAI’s Codex tool. Codex helps them write and review code faster.
Atlassian has also released a guide for linking ChatGPT and Codex with Jira and Confluence. The move deepens a partnership that began in 2023.
The companies said the goal is simple: let teams spend less time on busywork and more time on real work. The new tools will roll out to users in the coming months.
