Jason Sanjay, the 26-year-old son of Vijay, has revealed details of a college relationship as his directorial debut Sigma hits theatres.

In a conversation with VJ Siddhu, Jason said he had one relationship during college that lasted about a year and a half. The breakup, he said, was mutual, and he coped with it by listening to Yuvan Shankar Raja’s songs. Reports add that the relationship ended around 2020.

The personal revelation comes as Sigma completes its first five days in cinemas. The heist action comedy, starring Sundeep Kishan, has collected Rs 6.98 crore net in India so far, with day five adding Rs 79 lakh, a drop of just 6 per cent from day four.

The film opened at Rs 2.35 crore on October 2 and has received mixed reviews. Trade watchers say the steady weekday hold suggests the film is finding its audience.

For Jason, the debut marks his entry into the industry as a director rather than an actor, a path he has chosen despite his father’s superstardom.
