BCCI Names India, India A Squads for New Zealand Tour

The BCCI has announced India’s and India A’s squads for the upcoming tour of New Zealand.

India will play five T20Is from October 22 to November 1. The matches are scheduled in Christchurch (twice), Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton. Shreyas Iyer will captain the side, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain.

The headline selection is the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The veteran seamer is back in the T20I squad after four years and is expected to lead the pace attack on New Zealand’s seamer-friendly pitches.

India A will play three multi-day matches against New Zealand A in Lincoln and Christchurch between October 24 and November 10. Dhruv Jurel will captain the A side.

Rishabh Pant is part of the India A squad, subject to fitness. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal are also included, giving the A tour a strong look ahead of the Test series.

The squads were finalised at a selection meeting at Guwahati’s ACA Stadium under interim selection committee head Pragyan Ojha. The BCCI said squads for the ODIs and the two-Test series will be announced later.
