Eagles star Lane Johnson retires to focus on mental health

Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday after 14 seasons.
Johnson, 36, said he wants to focus on his mental health. He missed Sunday’s loss to the Rams for personal reasons.
‘I deeply wanted to gut it out for one more year,’ Johnson wrote on social media. ‘But after a lot of reflection, I’ve realized that my personal and family priorities have changed. Right now it is critical that I focus on my mental health.’
Johnson was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time first-team All-Pro. He started all 186 games he played with Philadelphia, which drafted him fourth overall in 2013.
He won two Super Bowl championships with the Eagles. Owner Jeffrey Lurie called him an all-time Eagle and said he will one day be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Johnson has been open about his mental health struggles in the past. Lurie praised his courage in using his experiences to advocate for mental health awareness.
