Guardians rout White Sox 9-3 to force ALDS Game 4

The Cleveland Guardians stayed alive in the AL Division Series with a 9-3 win over the Chicago White Sox in Game 3 on Wednesday.
Jo Adell hit a bases-clearing triple in the third inning to give Cleveland a 4-1 lead. Jose Ramirez added a two-run triple in the eighth to put the game away.
Ramirez finished with two hits and two RBIs. He also made a diving defensive play at third base in the sixth inning to preserve the lead.
Cleveland hit two triples in a postseason game for the first time in franchise history. The Guardians collected 11 hits, more than they managed in the first two games combined.
Cleveland’s pitchers struck out 19 Chicago batters. Closer Cade Smith fanned five in the final two innings.
The White Sox still lead the best-of-five series 2-1. They missed a chance to clinch a postseason series at home for the first time since 1906. Game 4 is on Thursday in Chicago.
