India To Launch JOSH Teams For TB Elimination On October 8

India will launch JOSH (Joint Squad for Health) Teams on October 8 to strengthen the fight against tuberculosis.
The launch will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Three ministries are behind the initiative: Health and Family Welfare, Youth Affairs and Sports, and Defence.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda will lead the national launch. Mansukh Mandaviya, Sanjay Seth and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will attend.
In the first phase, JOSH Teams will roll out across 55 districts in 11 states.
The teams will bring together Class-I officers, MY Bharat volunteers and NCC cadets. They will work at the block, ward and community levels.
The goal is to spread the message of TB Mukt Bharat to the grassroots. Teams will share information on TB symptoms, prevention, timely diagnosis and completing treatment.
The initiative also aims to break myths and stigma around TB.
An AI-powered chatbot called Khushi Avatar will also be launched. It will support public awareness and community participation in TB elimination.
