Festive hiring rises 7% to 1.27 lakh jobs, led by quick commerce

India’s festive hiring grew 7 per cent year on year to 1,27,080 jobs in 2026. The foundit Insights Tracker released the data on October 6.

Quick commerce led the demand with an 18 per cent rise. E-commerce grew 12 per cent. Logistics and transportation rose 10 per cent. Travel and hospitality, media and entertainment, and retail also grew.

This is the third straight year of growth. Festive hiring stood at 98,120 jobs in 2024 and 1,18,750 in 2025. Early-career professionals remain at the centre of the demand.

The growth is spreading beyond big cities. Tier-2 cities grew 11 per cent. Tier-3 and emerging cities grew 15 per cent, the fastest. Metros grew only 3 per cent. White-collar gig and freelance hiring rose 15 per cent.

Overall white-collar hiring fell 11 per cent in September. Foundit CEO Tarun Sinha said consumption is becoming more distributed. Jobs are following the same path.
