ECI reviews Bihar poll readiness, final roll lists 7.42 cr voters

The Election Commission has reviewed preparations for the Bihar assembly elections as the state's final electoral roll now lists 7.42 crore voters.
The roll shrank from 7.89 crore before the Special Intensive Revision began on June 24. About 65 lakh names were removed from the draft roll, while 21.53 lakh new electors were added through Form 6.
A further 3.66 lakh names were deleted before the final roll was published on September 30. The net result is a drop of nearly 47 lakh electors from the pre-revision figure.
Polling will be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, with counting on November 14. The 243-member assembly is currently led by the NDA, which won 131 seats in 2025.
The Commission held a press conference to detail security, logistics and monitoring arrangements. Opposition parties have raised concerns about the revision process, but the ECI says the exercise followed due procedure.
