Gill, Abhishek nominated for ICC Player of the Month

India's Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma have been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for September, alongside Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza.
According to Hindusthan Samachar, Abhishek scored 229 runs in four T20 Internationals in September, including a record-breaking century against Afghanistan. Gill amassed 333 runs in two ODIs against the West Indies, including a blistering 223 off 133 balls, the fastest ODI double century.
Raza was the leading run-scorer in Zimbabwe's home ODI series against Australia. In the women's category, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu, India's Shree Charani and Shafali Verma were shortlisted.
Gill is in contention for the monthly award for the fifth time. Abhishek, who won the award last September, broke Rohit Sharma's record for the fastest T20I century by an Indian. The winners are chosen through votes from a panel of experts and fans on the ICC's platforms.
The nominations continue India's recent run of monthly award contenders across both the men's and women's shortlists.
