India eye 2-0 lead as West Indies series moves to Ranchi

India will look to take a 2-0 lead when the second T20I against West Indies begins at Ranchi's JSCA International Stadium on Friday, October 9, at 7 pm IST.
The hosts lead the five-match series 1-0 after an eight-wicket win in Lucknow. India chased down 172 in just 14.4 overs, powered by captain Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 102, his maiden T20I hundred, and Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 57 off 36 balls.
Iyer has climbed to number seven in the ICC T20I rankings after leading India to Asian Games gold and the Lucknow win. West Indies will need to contain him early. Shai Hope (52) and Sherfane Rutherford (50 off 31) were the visitors' bright spots in the opener.
India may rotate players during the long series. Former cricketer Dinesh Karthik has backed Prince Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy to come into the XI, while young Vaibhav Suryavanshi may have to wait. Arshdeep Singh will lead the pace attack in Jasprit Bumrah's absence.
West Indies could hand a debut to Kamil Pooran after his strong Caribbean Premier League season. India have won nine of the 11 T20Is played against West Indies on home soil.
