Rahul, opposition MPs detained in march to Election Commission

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and several opposition MPs were detained by Delhi Police on October 6 during a march towards the Election Commission of India office. The leaders were released after spending nearly two hours in detention.
Gandhi led a march of over 300 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from Parliament towards Nirvachan Sadan, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Before being detained, Gandhi climbed barricades and sat on a dharna inside Akashvani Bhavan, close to the EC office. "We will sit as long as we have to. I am standing here to protect democracy," he said. Delhi Police later registered an FIR against Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and supporters for forcibly entering the premises.
The opposition has alleged "vote theft" and claimed large-scale voter deletions. The BJP dismissed the protest as an attempt to mislead the public with what party leaders called baseless claims.
The protest was part of the INDIA bloc's "Save Democracy" campaign. A day later, opposition MPs marched to Jantar Mantar, a designated protest site, vowing to continue the agitation.
