ElevenLabs to Invest Hundreds of Millions in India, Says Co-founder

AI voice company ElevenLabs plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in India, its co-founder Mati Staniszewski told Reuters in an interview published on October 6.
Staniszewski said India is the company’s largest market outside the United States. ElevenLabs already works with 250 Indian enterprises and adds about 26,000 new Indian developers every month.
The company currently supports 14 Indian languages and plans to expand to all 22 scheduled languages. It signed a memorandum of understanding with the Karnataka government on October 6 to use voice AI for accessibility, and said it is open to mergers and acquisitions in India.
The announcement comes as global AI firms race to build a presence in India. ElevenLabs raised $500 million in September at a $6.6 billion valuation, and the India investment signals how central the country has become to its growth plans.
Staniszewski said the company is also open to partnerships with Indian startups and academic institutions. The Karnataka agreement will bring voice AI tools to government services, with a focus on accessibility for visually impaired citizens.
