SQC’s Watermelon Makes Fast Company Tech List

Silicon Quantum Computing’s Watermelon system has made Fast Company’s 2026 Next Big Things in Tech list. The Sydney-based company announced the honour on Tuesday.
Watermelon was picked in the Computing, Chips and Foundational Technology category. The annual list celebrates breakthrough technologies that could reshape industries.
Watermelon is the world’s first commercial quantum reservoir computer. It launched in October 2025. It creates quantum-enhanced features from classical data to find patterns in sparse data.
It can also help train AI models more efficiently. In trials with Telstra, it cut a network model’s training time from weeks to days.
Tests with Schneider Electric improved home energy forecasts by up to 41 percent against the classical benchmark.
SQC is known for atomic-precision manufacturing. The company says Watermelon helps firms where AI training cost and energy use matter most. The recognition places the startup alongside leading global innovators. Fast Company’s list highlights technologies expected to shape the coming years.
