Bloodaxe First Look: Hirst’s Viking Saga Hits Prime
Prime Video has released the first look at Bloodaxe. It is the new Viking drama from Vikings creator Michael Hirst.
The images show Xavier Molyneux as Erik Bloodaxe. Jessica Madsen, known for Bridgerton, plays his wife Gunnhild. The series is set in the 10th century.
It follows Erik’s rise and his fight for the throne of Norway. Gunnhild stands beside him as the Mother of Kings. The land is torn by rivals, shifting loyalties and betrayals.
Michael Hirst created the show with his son Horatio Hirst. The pair also serve as writers and showrunners. Season 1 will have eight episodes.
The series is expected to premiere in early 2027. Prime Video has already renewed it for a second season. Season 2 is now in production in Ireland.
Kieran Bew from House of the Dragon joins the season 2 cast. The show will get a bigger showcase at New York Comic Con 2026 this week.
