Centre notifies 375 works under VB-G Ram Ji, scope up 41 percent

The Centre has notified 375 permissible works under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G) Gramin Act, 2025, expanding the list of rural works by 41 per cent over the previous MGNREGA framework. The Ministry of Rural Development issued the schedule on Tuesday.
The works are divided into four categories: water security with 128 works, core rural infrastructure with 111, livelihood-related infrastructure with 98, and special works for extreme weather events and disaster preparedness with 38. Agriculture and allied activities account for 181 of the 375 works.
Livelihood-related works will account for 26 per cent of the total, up from just 1.1 per cent under the previous framework. These include agro-processing units, cold storage infrastructure, mini flour mills, dairy infrastructure, mushroom cultivation sheds and aquaculture structures. Water security remains the largest category, covering check dams, recharge shafts, rejuvenation of rivers and rainwater harvesting. The framework replaces the MGNREGA and links wage employment with durable rural assets.
