Tuchel apologises to Bournemouth over Scott injury

England manager Thomas Tuchel has apologised to Bournemouth boss Marco Rose after midfielder Alex Scott was injured on England duty.
Scott trained fully before the Croatia match and gave no sign of injury, Tuchel said. The midfielder felt slight discomfort during the game but did not want to come off. A scan later revealed an injury that could keep him out for some time.
“I can 100% understand that Bournemouth is unhappy,” Tuchel said. “I can just say from the moment that we took the decision to let him play, there was absolutely no risk whatsoever apparent to me or our physical staff.”
Tuchel said he was sorry for Rose, who is missing a key player. Scott has a goal and two assists in six games for Bournemouth this season. Bournemouth are about to play in Europe for the first time after qualifying for the Europa League.
Tuchel insisted England took no risk with the player and called the injury a one-off. “It’s players’ health first always. That will never change,” he said.
