HackerRank’s AI interviewer Chakra goes live after 500,000 trials

HackerRank has made its AI interviewing agent Chakra generally available. The launch came on Monday after about six months in beta. The company says Chakra conducted more than 500,000 interviews during testing.
Snowflake, Snorkel and Capgemini were among the early users. HackerRank also tested the product internally.
Chakra conducts live interviews with candidates. It watches them work in a real coding environment. It then produces a structured report for hiring teams.
The agent measures critical thinking and judgment. It also scores “AI fluency.” That is how well a candidate frames a problem for AI, judges its output and steers it toward a solution.
“The previous modality of evaluation was evaluating the output,” said co-founder and CEO Vivek Ravisankar. “Now, because of AI, anybody can produce an artifact.”
The question for employers, he said, is whether they can understand the thinking behind the work.
Job seekers have also started using their own AI tools in interviews. Chakra’s approach could reshape how technical hiring works across the industry.
