A year on, Trump’s Gaza plan has not stopped the fighting

A year after US President Donald Trump unveiled his plan to end the Gaza war, the fighting has not stopped. Israel has continued near-daily strikes across the territory. It now occupies about two-thirds of Gaza.
The initial phase of the 20-point plan produced a ceasefire on October 10, 2025. The last remaining hostages were freed. Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel were released. Aid began flowing into the shattered enclave.
But the later goals remain far out of reach. Hamas has not disarmed. Israel has not withdrawn. Gaza’s reconstruction has not begun.
Gaza’s health ministry says at least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire. Many were women and children. Five Israeli soldiers have died in the same period.
Israel says its strikes target Hamas militants. It accuses the group of trying to rearm. Hamas denies this.
The plan envisaged a Palestinian governing body overseen by a Trump-led Board of Peace. It also foresaw an International Stabilization Force. A year on, both ideas exist only on paper. Palestinians in Gaza face dire humanitarian conditions.
