INDIA bloc MPs to march to Election Commission office today

Opposition MPs of the INDIA bloc will march from Parliament to the Election Commission headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday, pressing their demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The march, from Makar Dwar inside the Parliament complex to Nirvachan Sadan, is part of the bloc’s ‘Save Democracy’ campaign against alleged irregularities in the electoral process. The opposition alleges large-scale manipulation of voter lists to benefit the BJP.
The Election Commission has rejected the charges. It says its actions were lawful and that differences of opinion inside the institution are normal.
The campaign was announced by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on September 30 after a meeting of around 20 opposition parties. It includes district-level marches from October 2 to 8 and a mega rally in Delhi on November 1.
The Aam Aadmi Party will skip Tuesday’s march, its leader Sanjay Singh said. The bloc also plans to seek a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu and to approach the Supreme Court over the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.
