NASA to release Artemis II preliminary lunar science

Sydney, October 6: NASA will release the preliminary lunar science results from its Artemis II mission on Wednesday at the International Astronautical Congress.

The session, titled "NASA's Artemis II Preliminary Lunar Science Release," is set for 9:35 am EDT. Speakers include Dr. Nicky Fox, Dr. Lori Glaze and Artemis II lunar science lead Dr. Kelsey Young.

On Tuesday, a separate session covers "Artemis II Mission Results: The Industry Perspective" with contractor Parsons.

The conference also features NASA's Human Landing System programme, which aims to land Artemis astronauts on the Moon by 2028. An Artemis Accords news conference is scheduled for Wednesday.

NASA is using the week-long congress to showcase its exploration and science agenda. Sessions span Moon base infrastructure, space manufacturing and trusted AI on Mars.

Artemis II was the first crewed mission of the Artemis programme. Its science results will shape planning for the first lunar landing attempt.

The congress runs through the week in Sydney. NASA officials say the early findings will feed directly into crew training and instrument planning for the landing mission.
