Musk back above $1 trillion as SpaceX, Tesla rally

New York, October 6: Elon Musk is a trillionaire again. His fortune jumped 65 billion dollars on Monday to 1.04 trillion dollars, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
SpaceX shares are up 13 per cent since the start of October. Tesla has gained 6.7 per cent in the same period. Musk's stakes in the two companies make up more than 98 per cent of his net worth.
He first became the world's first trillionaire in June after SpaceX's record-breaking public listing. The crown slipped as the stock fell on valuation worries. By late July, his wealth decline of over 600 billion dollars from the peak was larger than anyone else's entire fortune on Bloomberg's list.
The latest rally followed renewed optimism. Morgan Stanley analysts on Monday called SpaceX one of the cheapest ways to play the space and intelligence sector. The stock has rebounded 58 per cent from its August low.
Tesla also reported better-than-expected third-quarter sales last week. Musk, 55, remains the world's richest person by a wide margin.
