Sanchar Saathi crosses 30 crore visits, fights fraud

The Sanchar Saathi portal has crossed 30 crore visits since its launch in May 2023, the Department of Telecommunications announced on October 5.
The platform helps citizens fight telecom fraud. Users can report suspicious calls, messages and WhatsApp texts. They can also check mobile connections linked to their name and block lost or stolen phones.
The Chakshu service, which takes fraud reports, has received 12.80 lakh complaints. These led to action in 59.82 lakh cases, including the disconnection of over 50 lakh mobile connections.
The portal has blocked 60.96 lakh lost or stolen mobile phones. More than 14 lakh lost phones have been traced and returned to their owners.
Over four crore citizen requests about mobile connections have been resolved. This stops the misuse of SIM cards obtained through stolen identities.
The platform’s Financial Fraud Risk Indicator has helped prevent suspected cyber-fraud losses of more than Rs 5,000 crore. The government calls the platform’s users Cyber Warriors.
