Global Brain Health Coalition Launches With 30x30x50 Plan

An International Brain Health Coalition (IBC) launched on October 5 with an ambitious plan called 30x30x50: cutting stroke rates by 30 percent, increasing cognitive screening by 50 percent, and reaching 30 cities by 2031. The coalition is coordinated by the Alzheimer’s and Related Health Global Initiative (ARGHI) and chaired by neurologist Dr. David Dodick.
The coalition brings together researchers, health systems, and patient groups to put proven brain-health strategies into action. Its goals include wider screening for cognitive decline, better prevention of stroke and dementia, and sharing best practices across cities worldwide.
Brain disorders are among the fastest-growing causes of disability globally as populations age. The coalition says early detection and prevention can save millions of lives and cut healthcare costs. Founding members will begin rolling out programmes in pilot cities, with progress to be tracked against the 2031 targets. Health experts welcomed the launch as a long-overdue global push on brain health.
