Shaffelburg Brace Lifts Canada Over Peru 2-0

Jacob Shaffelburg scored both goals as Canada beat Peru 2-0 in an international friendly at Montreal's Stade Saputo on Saturday, October 3. The LAFC winger struck in the 19th and 35th minutes to seal a comfortable win.
Shaffelburg opened the scoring at the back post after Daniel Jebbison flicked on Liam Millar's cross. His second was a close-range header after Peru goalkeeper Diego Romero could only parry another Millar cross. Both goals came from the same flank in a dominant first half.
The win followed Canada's 1-0 victory over Chile, giving Jesse Marsch's side back-to-back wins and clean sheets to open the 2030 World Cup cycle. "I haven't scored at all this year, so to get two goals is unbelievable for my confidence," Shaffelburg said afterwards.
Canada now face the United States on Tuesday in the final game of the window. Peru, meanwhile, continue their rebuild under their coaching staff after a difficult outing in Montreal.
