NSUI Stages India Gate Protest Demanding CEC’s Resignation

The National Students’ Union of India staged a protest at India Gate on October 3, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the voter-roll revision.
NSUI workers marched from Raisina Road toward Jantar Mantar, staged a sit-in and displayed effigies of the CEC, raising slogans for transparency in the Election Commission and protection of voting rights. The protest is part of wider agitation over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and alleged mass voter deletions.
A day earlier, Delhi Police detained more than 700 protesters, including AAP leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh, who tried to reach Jantar Mantar. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS were imposed in central Delhi.
Demonstrations continued for a third consecutive day on October 4-5, with detentions reported in Delhi and Mumbai. The opposition has announced a march to the Election Commission office on Monday.
