Centre sanctions Rs 1,200 crore farm funds for 10 states

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has handed over sanction letters worth more than Rs 1,200 crore to 10 states under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY).
The allocations were announced at the National Agriculture Conference-Rabi Campaign 2026 in New Delhi. West Bengal received Rs 290 crore, Haryana Rs 198 crore, Chhattisgarh Rs 181 crore, Arunachal Pradesh Rs 154 crore and Bihar Rs 114 crore. Karnataka, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Punjab received the rest.
Chouhan called for the Centre and states to work in the spirit of “Team Agriculture” to strengthen the farm sector and make India a global food basket. He said the Centre was ensuring states get resources in time so schemes run without delay.
He also announced that the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” campaign will run from October 22. It will focus on soil health and balanced fertiliser use.
For the Rabi season, states have been advised to pick crops and seed varieties based on soil moisture and water availability. Tackling counterfeit fertilisers and spurious seeds is another priority.
