US Indo-Pacific chief Paparo begins 6-day India visit

Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, began a six-day visit to India on October 3 to advance defence cooperation. The US Embassy in India announced the visit, saying it will strengthen military-to-military ties.
During the visit, Paparo will meet senior officials from India’s Defence Ministry and armed forces. The agenda includes digital transformation, emerging technologies, regional strategic stability and defence energy resilience. The embassy said both countries are building a defence partnership equipped for future challenges, from emerging technology to maritime security.
This is Paparo’s second visit to India this year. He previously visited from February 14 to 19, when he met senior military leadership and toured aerospace facilities in Bengaluru.
The visit follows Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026, the India-US joint military exercise that concluded on September 27 after nearly three weeks. On September 28, Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth discussed Indo-Pacific security with US Army Pacific’s deputy commanding general.
