Govt extends RELIEF export support scheme to March 2027

The government has extended the exporter-support scheme RELIEF till March 31, 2027. The extension covers Component II of the scheme under Notification 37/2026-27, issued on September 30.
RELIEF stands for Resilience and Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation. It was launched on March 19, 2026 to help exporters hit by maritime disruptions in West Asia.
The scheme encourages exporters to take ECGC insurance for shipments to designated regions, mainly in West Asia. It offers 95 percent risk coverage, with premium charges frozen to keep costs predictable.
It covers full and less-than-container load cargo, reefer containers and other standard shipments, but excludes energy cargo. The support is meant to keep trade flowing despite shipping risks.
The extension gives exporters more certainty to plan their orders. Officials said the move will protect margins on routes where freight and insurance costs have been volatile.
The scheme works through designated banks and the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation. Exporters have been advised to renew their cover early to avoid gaps in protection.
