Havertz a doubt for Leeds clash after Germany injury

Kai Havertz is a doubt for Arsenal’s home game against Leeds on October 10 after suffering a hamstring strain on international duty.

The 27-year-old was forced off just 30 minutes into Germany’s 1-1 Nations League draw with the Netherlands on September 24. He pulled up after a challenge from Netherlands midfielder Quinten Timber in Amsterdam.

Scans confirmed a muscle strain. Havertz left the Germany camp and returned to London for treatment with Arsenal’s medical staff. Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala also left the camp injured.

Early assessments suggest the injury is not severe. Sources close to the club expect Havertz to miss weeks rather than months. Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Burkardt were called up as replacements.

Havertz has scored three goals in seven appearances for Arsenal this season. Germany’s new manager Jurgen Klopp said he hopes the striker is back quickly. Arsenal will not rush him with a packed schedule ahead.
