India Finish Fourth at Asian Games With 85 Medals

India finished fourth at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya with 85 medals, including 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze. The tally is the country’s second-highest ever at the Asian Games.
China topped the table with 341 medals, including 169 golds. Hosts Japan finished second with 267 medals and South Korea third with 149. The record remains India’s 106 medals from Hangzhou 2023.
About 500 Indian athletes competed across 43 sports and 71 disciplines in Japan. Athletics was India’s biggest medal source with 24 medals, while shooting contributed 15. Archery led the gold count with five, and boxing added three.
Eleven of India’s 21 golds came in the final two days of the Games. The cricket and hockey teams defended their titles, and historic firsts were recorded by shooter Neeru Dhanda, archer Kumkum Mohod and golfer Pranavi Urs.
India retained the fourth-place finish it had achieved at the previous edition. The campaign ended on a high with team-sport golds and breakthrough individual performances.
