Ranvir Shorey says studio dropped him over anti-govt tag

Actor Ranvir Shorey has said a big-banner studio dropped him from a film for being “anti-govt,” “too vocal” and “potentially controversial.”
Shorey made the claim in a post on X on October 3. He said the information came from a trusted source and called it “first ever confirmation” of what he had long suspected. He did not name the studio or the film.
“I was considered ‘anti-govt,’ ‘too vocal,’ ‘potentially controversial’ by a big-banner studio, and dropped from their film,” Shorey wrote. He is known for roles in Khosla Ka Ghosla and Bheja Fry and has been vocal about political issues on social media.
Fans rallied behind the actor after the post. Many praised him for speaking out and said the industry punishes independent voices. Others questioned whether politics should affect casting decisions.
Shorey has previously said that his outspoken views cost him work in the film industry. Neither the studio nor the film’s makers have responded to his claim.
