Economists hail India’s growth at Kautilya Conclave

Global economists praised India’s growth trajectory at the fifth Kautilya Economic Conclave in New Delhi on October 3, even as they warned of an uncertain world economy.

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P K Mishra said India has maintained high growth despite global turbulence. The three-day conclave, themed “Resilience in an Age of Flux,” brings together economists, policymakers and business leaders from around the world.

Nobel laureate Jean Tirole and former ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet were among those who spoke positively about India’s economic management. RBI Deputy Governor Michael Debabrata Patra noted that about 3 per cent of US bonds are held by foreigners, underlining India’s relative stability.

Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan delivered the inaugural address. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to give a special address during the conclave.

The conclave comes as India navigates global trade tensions and geopolitical shifts. Economists said India’s domestic demand and reforms give it buffers that many other economies lack.
