Vijay Sethupathi has unveiled the World of Baththa teaser, the first major glimpse into the Tamil period drama ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on October 1, 2026. The film is written and directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and presented by Atlee.

The teaser introduces Baththa as a feared figure with an almost mythical reputation among locals, while a fuller trailer hints at a softer side seen only by his wife and daughter. The film is set in the 1980s, with Sai Abhyankkar composing the music.

It is Sethupathi’s third collaboration with Tharaneetharan after Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom and Seethakathi. Lijomol Jose co-stars in the film.

The project marks Cine1 Studios’ entry into Tamil cinema. Producer Murad Khetani, known for backing Kabir Singh and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, said the banner wants to build long-term partnerships across languages, not just enter one market.
