Colts rule out Keenan Allen for London game vs Commanders

The Indianapolis Colts have ruled out wide receiver Keenan Allen for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders in London, the team announced on Saturday.

Allen, 34, was downgraded from questionable as he nurses a groin injury. He missed Friday’s practice and is the only Colts player on the 53-man roster slated to miss the Week 4 contest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Allen has 13 catches for 100 yards and a touchdown this season after signing a one-year contract on August 18. The six-time Pro Bowl selection has 1,068 career receptions.

The Colts elevated Nick Westbrook-Ikhine from the practice squad to cover the absence. Indianapolis is already without No. 1 receiver Alec Pierce, who is on injured reserve with a heel injury.

The injury hit leaves quarterback Daniel Jones short of targets against the Commanders. Josh Downs is expected to lead the receiving group, with tight end Tyler Warren also likely to see more work.
