Pakistan set for T20I shake-up; Salman, Shaheen dropped, say reports

Pakistan’s T20I setup is set for a major shake-up, according to reports. Captain Salman Ali Agha is expected to lose the captaincy and be dropped from the T20 squad. Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf are also likely to be excluded.
Salman captained Pakistan in 50 T20Is, winning 31, including a run to the Asia Cup 2025 final. He was also dropped from the Test side recently. He is now expected to feature only in the ODI squad. Shaheen is expected to retain the ODI captaincy.
Sahibzada Farhan and Shadab Khan are the leading candidates for the T20I captaincy. Farhan is currently captaining Pakistan’s second-string side at the Asian Games in Japan. Babar Azam’s place in the T20I squad is said to be secure.
Pakistan’s next assignment is a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on October 9, 11 and 13. An ODI tri-series with England and Sri Lanka follows from October 18 to 31. The PCB is expected to announce the squad and leadership soon.
