Crew-13 sets US record with 8-hour trip to space station

SpaceX’s Crew-13 has set a US speed record. The four astronauts reached the International Space Station just 7 hours and 55 minutes after launch.
The mission lifted off from Cape Canaveral on October 1. It docked the same day, the fastest crewed US flight to the station.
The previous record for a crewed American spacecraft was 14 hours and 43 minutes, set in August 2025. Even the fastest cargo flight took 12 hours and 33 minutes.
Commander Jessica Watkins made history. She is the first Black woman to command a crew into orbit. The NASA astronaut and geologist once worked on the Curiosity Mars rover.
She is joined by pilot Luke Delaney, Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov. The three are on their first spaceflights.
The launch was delayed three weeks to fix a fuel leak in the Dragon capsule. The crew will spend six months on the station, replacing astronauts who arrived in February.
