OpenAI’s Dots agents can run apps like Blender and GIMP

OpenAI has launched Dots, a new agent platform that can operate real software for you. Each Dot runs apps inside a cloud virtual machine while you watch in a separate window.
A Dot can open apps like Blender and GIMP right away. It can browse the web and work through tasks step by step. You can also give it access to your own computer through the desktop ChatGPT app.
You can call your Dot by voice to talk through complex tasks. The agents are built for work first. OpenAI says they can also handle small errands like ordering food.
The rollout is limited for now. Dots are available to ChatGPT Pro users at 100 dollars a month, plus Business Premium and Enterprise plans. Each user gets one Dot to start.
OpenAI has added safety controls. Dots must get explicit approval before sensitive actions like installing software or changing passwords. Users can set custom rules for what agents may not cross.
OpenAI is working with Microsoft to fit Dots into enterprise security systems. The company plans to let users run multiple Dots in the future.
